Building upon the successful work of Laureus Urban Stars projects in London and the West Midlands, Laureus Urban Stars - Manchester works to reduce gun and gang violence among the youth of the city. The project also works to encourage young people to be active and participate in sporting activity.
Urban Stars works closely with existing grass roots sports projects that are already engaging at-risk young people in Manchester and who are in danger of becoming involved in youth crime in some of the most deprived areas of the city. By working with these partners, Urban Stars can increase the impact that its programmes can have on the local community and leave a sustainable legacy.
The ACN, which runs the Urban Stars project, has used sport to change the lives of almost 5000 children and young people.
