A Sport for Good 'slam dunk' for Laureus’ Miguel Indurain and Almudena Cid

This week, the Basketball School Foundation ‘5+ 11’ in Vitoria, Spain saw the visit of two Spanish sporting icons.
Miguel Indurain, cycling legend and Laureus Academy Member, and Laureus Ambassador Almudena Cid, took time off to inspire young people from the '5 + 11’ Basketball School. 
The event took place at the Ciudad Deportiva Bakh, where 24 children aged between 8 and 10, enjoyed a mini basketball friendly match with two of the most recognized Spanish athletes. After the match, Miguel and Almudena spoke about what the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation meant to them.
Indurain said he was "delighted to belong to Laureus and to support projects such as the ‘5 + 11’ Basketball School which promotes healthy living and the values ??of sport."
Cid, who has participated in many Laureus-supported project visits, urged that “sport should be pushed from a young age as it acts as a form of discipline, fun, encouraging teamwork."
Gabriel Masfurroll, Chairman of the Laureus Foundation Spain, said: "I want to reiterate my thanks to Miguel and Almudena and their involvement with the Foundation. In addition, I want to congratulate the Foundation ‘5+ 11’ and their daily work alongside sport and the great work they do for young people in this wonderful city. "
