The largest golf tournament series in Germany has launched this week, and Laureus are delighted to be named as the charity partner.
The Mercedes-Benz After-Work Golf Cup, a 9-hole tournament series running from April to September on weekdays from 17.00, will consist of 3,000 nationwide tournaments this year and have more than 30,000 golfers participating at 260 different facilities.
The launch event for the 2014 season took place at OPEN.9 Golf Eichenried near Munich on May 7. Laureus Academy Member Franz Beckenbauer and Laureus Ambassador Marcel Siem were present alongside professional golfer and Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador Moritz Lampert.
"For many years Mercedes-Benz and Laureus have had a close partnership promoting good causes," Beckenbauer said. "It is a great thing that this partnership is further strengthened by the integration of Laureus in the largest German golf tournament series."
Golf Pro Marcel Siem added: "As an ambassador for Mercedes-Benz and Laureus, I understand the large commitment to social action being made for disadvantaged young people. The Mercedes Benz After Work Golf Cup offers an optimal platform by its variety at tournaments to present the Laureus philosophy.“
