Ahead of the Laureus World Sports Awards 2019 in Monaco, Laureus has become the title sponsor of Monaco Run, the leading road racing event in the Principality.
On Saturday 16 February, the 1000m Sport for Good races will take place, with all participants encouraged to make a donation to support the work of Laureus Sport for Good when finalising their registration. A series of 1000m races will take place throughout the day, catering for all ages and abilities.
Following Saturday’s activities, three races will take place on Sunday 17 February. Firstly, a 5km race will capture the spirit of the Diamond League meeting Herculis EBS and will encourage all participants, racing alongside elite runners, to deliver leading performances.
Secondly, a City Trail run on the streets of Monaco will give participants the chance enjoy the Principality on a route no athlete has run before. There will also be a Pink Ribbon Walk for those who would like to take part in a more leisurely activity.
Jonathan Hill, CEO of Laureus World Sports Awards Limited, said: “Building on our relationship over the last year, we are excited to extend our partnership with the Principality by launching the Sport for Good Run. We want to leave a lasting legacy in Monaco and there is no better way to do that than an event which encourages people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to participate in sport. I’m looking forward to lacing up my trainers and getting involved on February 16!
Jean-Pierre Schoebel, Director of the Monaco Federation of Athletics, said: “It is an honor for our federation to work with Laureus and their Sport for Good Foundation. After having the chance to work together for the 1000m races ahead of the international meeting of Athletics Herculis EBS, which ended up 2018 ranked as the best meeting in the world, this partnership with Laureus will allow us to bring our other main event which is Monaco Run to the top of the international sports scene, both in terms of runners’ participation and level of performance.
