The Laureus Foundation Spain and AGM Sports Foundation have been honoured with a prestigious “Best Ideas” award from Spanish publication Actualidad Económica at a gala held at the Hotel Ritz in Madrid on June 17.
The Award is in recognition of the Spanish "I have a dream" project, which has been developed by the Laureus and AGM to give scholarships to young people for education in the United States.
Gabriel Masfurroll, Chairman of the Laureus Foundation Spain and Gonzalo Corrales, Director General of Sports AGM, have been responsible for collecting the award from Miguel Ors, Deputy Director of Actualidad Económica.
Masfurroll said that "It is a great honor to have this distinction, especially considering the prestige and recognition that these awards hold in the business world. In addition, this award serves to motivate us to continue working through sport as a tool for social change."
"I have a dream" is a scholarship program aimed at young athletes of Spanish nationality with limited financial resources who have excelled at national or international level, who are about to finish the second year of high school and have a good academic record. Beneficiaries have the opportunity to study and train in one of the more than 1,500 American universities working with the Laureus Foundation Spain, the Foundation AGM and the AGM Sports.
The "I Have a Dream" is a reward for the effort and dedication of the young, with grants ranging from $ 30,000 to $ 50,000 per year, covering all personal, academic and athletic expenses during the 4 years of college education.
