Project overview

It is reported that 2.1% of the Indian population, 21 million people, faces some kind of disability. It is believed this reported number is lower than the actual figures because not all cognitive disabilities are recognized and the extreme stigmatization of disability is a national problem.

IMAGE, based in Rajasthan, has been working on developing a highly scalable programme which allows for the work-place integration and skill development of youth facing disability. Working with youth facing a range of physical and cognitive disabilities they have managed to impact thousands of youth since their inception in 2003.

Working through deep impact interventions, IMAGE have been able to tackle stigmas towards those with disabilities in local villages as they demonstrate they are equal and contributing members in their communities.
