Project overview

Schneetiger was the first Laureus project in Austria and is targeted at kids and young people with a disability. The Austrian government acknowledges that those who suffer most in the system are those with congenital disabilities, or those who become disabled before starting their career, noting 'social rehabilitation still only enjoys peripheral significance; it is thus the social rehabilitation measures in particular that must be expanded upon in the future.' Schneetiger looks to address this through winter sports activities. As well as allowing the kids and young people with mental and physical disabilities to enjoy an active lifestyle which benefits their health, the aim is also to teach them about important values such as self-confidence and team spirit to equip them for the future.
