Hong Kong Rugby Union Community Foundation (Deaf Rugby)

The Hong Kong Rugby Union Community Foundation’s Deaf Rugby programme helps deaf athletes build self-confidence, friendships, bonds, communication skills and responsibility.

Approximately 90% of all deaf people have two parents who are able-hearing, and many never learn to sign with their children. Deaf sports provide younger athletes the perfect place for meaningful interactions with others who use sign language and facilitate interactions with able-hearing athletes.

The Hong Kong Rugby Union Community Foundation’s Deaf Rugby programme helps deaf athletes build self-confidence, friendships, bonds, communication skills and responsibility. Rugby gives them the opportunity to prove to themselves and other people that deafness cannot prevent them from achieving their goals.
