VVV-Venlo striker Lennart Thy was unavailable for selection for his side's game in Eindhoven, but it was for a wonderful reason. The 26-year old, on loan from Werder Bremen, wasn’t playing because he was donating blood for a Leukemia patient.

Seven years ago, he gave blood in the hope that it would match and save a Leukemia cancer patient's life in the future. In March, the brilliant news came that a match had been found and he gave blood to aid doctors in their attempts to create stem cells and allow a transplant to take place. It's very rare that a complete match is found and VVV made the brilliant decision to let their No.11 fulfil his duties. PSV Eindhoven made a grand gesture of respect towards Lennart by naming him man of the match despite his absence from the game.
