Jonny Wilkinson’s remarkable kicking and accomplished outfield play was critical in ensuring that England became the first northern hemisphere country to become World Champions with a dramatic drop goal just 26 seconds from the end of a thrilling Rugby World Cup Final against Australia in Sydney in November.
Wilkinson, who was named International Rugby Board Player of the Year, scored 15 of England’s points in the 20-17 win against Australia and finished the tournament as leading scorer with 113 points. At 24, he is already England’s leading points scorer.
