Winner
The world’s most successful women’s golfer, Sorenstam had another brilliant year. Her victory in the Weetabix Women’s British Open meant she completed women’s golf’s Grand Slam of the four major championships.
She also won a second major, the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, plus four other tournaments, and was a member of the winning European Solheim Cup team against the United States.
She also became first woman to play in a men’s US PGA Tour event for 58 years in the Bank of America Colonial Tournament and she was the first woman to play in the US$1 million Skins Game with Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson and Mark O’Meara.
