Winning the 2006 Professional Windsurfers Association Wave World Championship was but the latest in a stellar career—and year—for American windsurfing star Kevin Pritchard.
His third place finish at the PWA Aloha Classic in December locked up his title, and his magnificent 2006 also saw him finish second overall in the Super X discipline and third in slalom racing.
With this wave title Pritchard secured his place in windsurfing's history as one of the very best all-round windsurfers we have seen over the past few decades. Kevin sailed consistent the whole year and once again put in another solid performance at Hookipa to clinch the title.
Event highlights in 2006 for Pritchard were his wave victory in Guincho, Portugal, and Super X victory in Costa Brava, Spain.
Pritchard said: "To win the PWA Wave World Title has been one of my goals over the past few years and now I made it again for the second time in my career. I also finished 2nd in the Super X discipline and 3rd in racing so it has been a great year for me. I'm super stoked to win the most sought after title in the windsurfing world.”
