There is no stopping swimming’s medal machine Michael Phelps. Still just 22, at the 2007 World Swimming Championships in Melbourne, Phelps won seven gold medals and broke five world records.  The gold medal events were 200 metres freestyle, 100 metres and 200 metres butterfly, 200 metres and 400 metres individual medley, 4 x 100 metres freestyle relay and 4 x 200 metres freestyle relay.  This achievement follows the 2004 Athens Olympics where he won a record eight medals, six of which were gold.
