Sarah Storey
Sarah Storey was the UK’s leading Paralympic swimmer, but was forced to switch to cycling in 2005 after developing an ear infection which forced her out of the water. She made an immediate impact on her debut for the cycling team, winning five gold medals, two silver and a bronze at the 2005 European Championships.
An athlete with an upper limb disability, in 2007 she won gold medals in the 2 km pursuit and the 500 metres TT at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester and won a gold medal in the 3 km pursuit and bronze in the 500 metres TT in the World Championship in Bordeaux, an event in which she competed with a broken left clavicle.
