Swedish marksman Jonas Jacobsson won three gold medals in the Paralympic Games in Beijing 2008 in the R1 air rifle standing, R7 free rifle 3x40m and R6 free rifle 50m to take his total of gold medals to 16. That meant he had won at least one gold in each of the last eight Paralympic Games, going all the way back to Arnhem in 1980.  He is also the holder of several world records.
Jacobsson has now become the first person with a disability to be named Sweden’s sports personality of the year.  He has yet to decide if he will compete in 2012, where one option is to do a Paralympic Games/Olympic Games double, which is allowed in one event - the 50m free rifle.
