At 33, flamboyant play-maker Ronaldinho led Atlético Mineiro to victory in the Copa Libertadores – the South American club championship - beating Paraguay’s Olimpia on penalties in the final. It was a remarkable performance by the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year (2004 and 2005), who had moved to relatively unfashionable Atlético Mineiro in June 2012 and helped them reach second in the Brazilian League and qualify for the Copa Libertadores, a feat for which he received the 2012 Golden Ball as player of the year in Brazil.
