Winner
At 27, Daniel Dias made 2015 one of the most successful season of his career. The S5/SB4 swimmer, who has a congenital malformation of arms and right leg, left the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow as the most decorated athlete, winning seven golds and one silver medal, with six of the gold medals in individual events.
Just three weeks later, at the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto, he won eight gold medals out of the eight events in which he competed. He will be one of Brazil’s big hopes for medals in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Daniel Dias is a Laureus Ambassador.
