After finishing second in the Formula One World Championship to his Mercedes AMG Petronas team-mate Lewis Hamilton in 2014 and 2015, Nico Rosberg finally made the breakthrough in 2016 to win his first world title.
In a year which went down to the last race in Abu Dhabi, he had nine Grand Prix wins and eight pole positions. Despite his success, Roberg announced his retirement five days after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the age of 31. In his seven years with Mercedes, he won 23 Grand Prix.
