Won women'sT11 titles at her first World Championships. The visually impaired 24-year-old had never competed outside Asia before the Grand Prix Final in London in July. At the World Championships in Doha, in October, Liu was unstoppable on the track with guide Donglin Xu, beating Brazilian World and Paralympic champion Terezinha Guilhermina, who had held all three world titles since 2011, and the 200m since 2006.
In addition to her gold in the 100m, Liu set new Asian records in the 400m and 200m on her way to the titles and was part of the winning women's 4x100m T11-T13 relay team.
