In Laureus' 20th anniversary year, the Laureus World Sports Awards will take place in Berlin on 17 February 2020. 
 

Hosted in the Verti Music Hall, Berlin’s leading entertainment venue, the landmark 2020 Awards will celebrate the greatest sporting triumphs of 2019, while also showcasing Laureus Sport for Good’s work for the past two decades in uniting, inspiring and changing the lives of young people around the world.


The Awards will mark Laureus’ 20th anniversary and celebrate our 20 years of using sport to change the world. Of sports stars supporting our vision to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage. And 20 years of us, together, changing lives.

LAUREUS SPORTING MOMENTS WINNER

In 1975, Chinese climber Xia Boyu lost his feet during a high-altitude storm on Mount Everest. In May, aged 69 and on his 5th attempt, Xia became the second double-amputee to scale Everest.

The 2020 Awards will be the second Laureus World Sports Awards to take place in Berlin, following the 2016 ceremony which took place at the Messe Berlin.

Berlin is steeped in sporting history and cemented in the annals of world athletics.

Previously, the Awards have taken place in Monaco, Lisbon, Barcelona, Saint Petersburg, Abu Dhabi, London, Rio de Janeiro, Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai.
