Under the captaincy of Paul McGinley, Europe won the biennial Ryder Cup match against the United States at Gleneagles by the comfortable margin of 16½-11½. It was Europe’s third straight victory and its sixth in the last seven. Justin Rose was the team’s top point scorer with four points. He was ably supported by Jamie Donaldson, Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson who each contributed three points.
