An outstanding year for the superb British racing driver who totally dominated his sport and secured his second straight Formula One World Championship and his third overall. He clinched the title at the United States Grand Prix in October, winning it with three races still remaining. Driving for the Mercedes AMG Petronas team, he won ten Grand Prix during the year. He also had seven additional podium finishes, 11 pole positions and eight fastest laps. With a career total of 43, he is third on the all-time list of Grand Prix wins behind Michael Schumacher (91) and Alain Prost (51) and he has had more Formula One race victories than any other British driver. His other World Championship victories came in 2008 and 2014.
