The number of Germans living with disabilities is over 7 million, and the unemployment rate amongst people with disabilities is more than double the national unemployment rate, because the stigma attached to hiring someone with a disability is so great that it prevents disabled people from being able to become contributing members of society.
Mit Pferden Stark Machen supports the integration of disabled youth to change the way people look at those with disabilities. Through horseriding, the project aims to “empower children with horses” through a therapeutic pedagogy approach in working with children and horses. The project supports young people with mental and physical disabilities, those that have experienced traumatization, and those with learning and concentration disorders or ADHD.
