Jordan is one of the countries most affected by the Syrian crisis, with the second highest share of refugees compared to its population in the world. The majority of Syrian refugees in Jordan live in urban areas and in poverty: over 80% live below the poverty line and 51% are children. 

With the Sport for Peace Project, Generations for Peace’s ambition is to improve the resilience of vulnerable male and female Syrian refugee and Jordanian children and youth to violence; empower them with greater feelings of protection and belonging and increase their self-confidence to participate in community life; and harnessing the power of sport to increase equal access to improved services in public schools, allowing them to interact and engage in activities that foster life skills development and active lifestyle, thus increasing their tolerance, acceptance, and social cohesion within communities.
