Interculturalidad, Salud, y Derechos A.C. (INSADE)

The programme forms part of the official rehabilitation and release programme for youth between 14 and 29 years old who have been incarcerated for committing serious crimes.

Laureus is supporting INSADE in delivering its Sport for Peace and Social Integration Programme in two youth detention centres in Mexico City. The programme forms part of the official rehabilitation and release programme for youth between 14 and 29 years old who have been incarcerated for committing serious crimes, but are too young to go to mainstream public jail or require special assistance that is not offered there.
Opportunities for young women to participate in and benefit from a structured sport for social reintegration programme is rare, as most attention and resources are channeled to young men, who make up a large percentage of inmates.
Laureus is assisting in the delivery Lima Lama courses to over 60 young women, focusing on not only the technical side of the sport, but also on management of emotions, resolution of conflict, gender, and cultural masculinity.
