In 2016, 23 Mozambicans visited Kruger National Park, and created a pilot intervention around football. The programme was founded in five villages and included football, IT training, life-skills, conservation and enterprise development.
The programme uses an innovative strategy that combines two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: “Life on Land” and “Partnerships.” Using sport to combine these goals and further impact other goals, the programme promotes collaboration between the Peace Parks Foundation, the Great Limpopo Trans-Frontier Conservation Areas, Sanparks, Parque Nacional de Limpopo, government departments, Mercedes-Benz and Mobicel in Mozambique.
