Foundation For People's Development (FDP)

The Foundation For People’s Development Social Sports School uses football as a prevention tool for dropping out of school.

In Romania, the school dropout rate is 19.1%. Too many young children and adolescents are growing up without completing a basic education. The main problems leading to school dropout are less related to the performance and standards of the national school system, and more related to the family support for and attitudes toward school. Poor parenting education and lack of income and resources only exacerbates this alarming trend.

The Foundation for People’s Development Social Sports School uses football as a prevention tool for dropping out of school. The objectives, content and football activities implemented are established based on the methodology of Real Madrid Foundation, which focuses on seven core values. Psychological counselling, either individually or in groups, is also offered to reduce dropout.
