Somalia has been isolated because of insecurity issues, which have taken precedence over the development agenda. As a fragile state with widespread poverty, the country is on its way to peace and stability.  

Elman Peace Centre is dedicated to promoting and establishing durable solutions to peacemaking, cultivating leadership and empowering the most marginalised and vulnerable members of the community. The organisation works with children disassociated from armed forces and groups who are undergoing rehabilitation and integration through using non-traditional psychological therapies like surf therapy in Mogadishu City. 

The pilot is an innovative project that uses a non-conventional method of surf therapy to rehabilitate and re-integrate children disassociated from armed groups in Mogadishu, Somalia. Surf therapy instructors are partnered with children to support their transitions from traumatic events through psychosocial interventions.
