Living Legends

The overall objective of Living Legends is to equip learners with sport and life skills. For younger learners, the focus is on gross motor skills development and school readiness while older learners take part in a combination of sport conditioning, sport development and life skill development during constructive activities.

Living Legends believe in the potential of the youth and wants to contribute to the empowerment of South African youth and their communities. Therefore, Living Legends offers sport and life skills development opportunities to empower learners to discover and exploit their own abilities. Because of Laureus’ involvement, Grade R – Grade 7 learners from Rusthof Primary and Dr GJ Joubert Primary in the Helderberg area near Cape Town are able to participate in the Living Legends School Programme.
The overall objective of Living Legends is to equip learners with sport and life skills. For younger learners, the focus is on gross motor skills development and school readiness while older learners take part in a combination of sport conditioning, sport development and life skill development during constructive activities. Various sport codes, including athletics, cricket, tennis, rugby, soccer, hockey and netball, are introduced. The life skills component aims to develop critical thinking with themes such as identity, creativity, financial literacy and responsibility. The programme is facilitated during school hours by Living Legends instructors, most often appointed from the local community, as part of the prescribed subject Life Orientation.
