Club Deportivo Barracas

Deportivo Barracas gives youth an alternative to crime and the drug trade. In a programme that improves the reality for children from low-income communities, young people use sport and group activities as an alternative to anti-social behaviour.

In 2013 violent deaths among youth in Argentina were at a ten-year high in a pattern that pointed to the rise in organised crime. Gang violence and turf wars have been rising with many of the world’s strongest drug cartels having strong operations in the country.
