Ian Botham has just one day to go before completing his 160 mile charity "Beefy Walk" across Sri Lanka.

Beefy, who is raising funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, completed the seventh day of the trek at the idyllic Weligama Beachside after a 16 kilometre walk having set off from Matara.

And there was no messing about for Beefy today.
Having braved the scorching heat for the duration of today's walk, something that has proved a constant challenge throughout the walk, the cricket legend made straight for the crystal blue Sri Lankan waters after crossing the finish line.

And considering a certain sports news team were looking for a broadcast chat with Beefy, it made for one of the more unusual TV interviews of the week so far.

There was a real sense of accomplishment and relief in the air as the walkers took the sea and sand today.

And though blisters are sore, feet are tired and some long for home comforts half way around the world, the walkers know the end is now in sight.

Beefy said: "The hard work is done when it comes to the walking now and we've raised some fantastic awareness. Now we just need to get through the final day and make sure those donations keep coming in.
"Tomorrow is no small challenge, though, nearly 20 miles. But we'll be walking with beautiful beach views almost the whole way, so I know it'll be a lot of fun."

Beefy will be completing his walk in Seenigama, where Laureus efforts have successfully helped rebuild a community sports centre following the 2004 tsunami.
