The second annual ‘Chefs Who Share – the ART of giving’ gala dinner and auction took place at the Cape Town City Hall on 11 September.  The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa was honoured to again be named as one of the event’s charity beneficiaries, along with the MAD (Make a Difference) Charity.

Thanks to the generosity of the 252 attendees, partners involved  as well as the artists and chefs who donated their work and time, a phenomenal R2 500 000 was raised. Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Trustee, Iain Banner, returned as the auction master and some amazing one-of-a-kind experiences were auctioned, including two tickets to the Laureus World Sports Awards in Shanghai in 2015.

The sophisticated glamour of the evening was combined with a culinary performance second to none.  The 21 chefs involved - 14 of South Africa’s finest and seven chefs from Michelin-star restaurants in Europe – and some of South Africa’s most prominent sommeliers crafted an amazing dining experience for the guests.

Laureus Sport for Good Foundation SA Chairman, Morné du Plessis, commented, “The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is proud to be associated with this very special event. While it is an evening of glamour and culinary artistry, the focus remains on giving back and helping those in need. We would like to extend our gratitude to all parties involved for their incredible generosity, but special thanks must go to Barbara Lenhard and Florian Gast from Opulent Living Experiences for another incredible experience. I would also like to express our gratitude to Mercedes-Benz for not only their support of this initiative but also their ongoing support of Laureus, not just here in South Africa but around the world!”

The funds raised for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation South Africa will go towards their 15 supported projects, as well as identifying other sport & development programmes that may require funding and support.
