Former Arsenal FC and Germany International Jens Lehmann announced as new Laureus Ambassador

Former Arsenal and Germany footballer Jens Lehmann has been named as the latest Laureus Ambassador.
The announcement was made during this weekend’s Mercedes Cup, a 250 ATP tour tennis event, for which Laureus were the charity partner.
On the announcement, the much-loved goalkeeper, who was part of the legendary Arsenal ‘invincibles’ team of 2003-2004 who went unbeaten for an entire season, said: “It's a great honour to become a Laureus Ambassador supporting the work of the Foundation as this is something very close to my heart. As a former professional footballer, I know that sport has the power to change the world. Sport has given me many opportunites in life. I want to pass opportunities on to the kids. All kids should be able to do sports, whatever beliefs they have, country they are from, language they speak or if they can afford to become member in a sports club. I am very happy to be part of the Laureus family and make my contribution to this cause."
Boris Becker, Laureus Academy Member and Board member of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in Germany, said: "We’re very happy that such an extraordinary personality like Jens Lehman is part of the Laureus family and will support us as an Ambassador. It's very important that well-known athletes come to support our goals. Jens’ success, however, wasn't limited to sports but also the social sector. Having him will enable us to communicate the idea and the movement of Laureus even more successfully."
Joining Jens Lehman and Boris Becker at the MercedesCup were the Laureus Ambassadors Thomas Muster and Henri Leconte as well as kids from the projects move&do and KICKFORMORE. The kids spent an exciting day at the Tournament and escorted the players to the show match on centre court.
