Laureus Academy Member Daley Thompson added to IAAF Hall of Fame

Daley Thompson, the British decathlon legend, is to be added to the IAAF Hall of Fame.
During his career, the Laureus Academy Member won more decathlon honours than anybody before him. He won two Olympic gold medals and a World Championship and created four world records, won three Commonwealth gold medals and two European Championships.
Daley’s addition to the Hall of Fame 2013 intake follows that of fellow Laureus Academy Members Michael Johnson, Sergey Bubka, Sebastian Coe, Kip Keino and Edwin Moses who were all named among the 24-strong group of athletes honoured in the first intake a year ago.
One of those inductees, Laureus Chairman Edwin Moses, commented to Laureus.com: “Congratulations to Daley. He epitomises what the decathlon is all about. The people he defeated during his day were formidable athletes and he always came through.
