Germany's World Cup squad received a boost of inspiration on Tuesday from explorer and adventurer Mike Horn during a sailing trip near their camp on Brazil's Atlantic coast.
Horn, a Laureus Academy Member, talked about his some of his remarkable adventure expoits.
Horn has most recently returned from a climb of the Himalayan Makalu mountain. He reached the summit without the use of additional oxygen or high altitude porters making him one of only three men to have summited this mountain without the use of additional oxygen.
Having learnt about some of Horn’s adventures, Germany captain Philipp Lahm commented that it was ''incredible what the human body can achieve.''
Lahm said the presentation by the South African-born Swiss explorer showed that ''we must be well prepared, and have to respect the opponent.''
