Laureus is honoured to learn that the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation has been nominated for a Charity Times Award in the category of Charity of the Year: with ad income between £1million and £10million.
The Charity Times Awards are the pre-eminent celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector.
Of course, the work of the Foundation around the world isn’t pursued in the hope of receiving praise or awards. This nomination, however, does go a long way in paying tribute to the hundreds of people that work across the UK with Laureus helping change the lives of young children through sport.
For Laureus to be nominated for this award alongside other such brilliant charities will also be of incredible encouragement for the sport for good movement as a whole.
Following on from the words of Nelson Mandela when he said: “Sport has the power to change the world,” Laureus has worked passionately to prove and promote sport’s unique ability to bring people together, engage troubled young people and make communities better places.
We hope this nomination will offer all organisations using sport to make the world a better place the encouragement that this work is going appreciated.
