Laureus Youth Camp 2015: A great day in the snow

Last week, children and young people from different Laureus projects spent a few days in the snow they are not likely to forget!
Ten of the thirteen Laureus Sport for Good projects in Germany/Austria traveled to Vienna and for many of the kids, it was not only the first time they got in a plane, but the first ever holiday of their lives. After visiting the sights of the Austrian capital, they all took a bus headed to the famous ski region of Semmering.
The Austrian Laureus project Snow Tiger, which enables children and young people with disabilities to have access to winter sports was the Host of this year’s Youth camp. They provided all necessary equipment and clothing to make sure that each of the 69 children could enjoy their time on the slopes and roar on to learning a new sport.
Many of the children were making their first steps on the snowy slopes, and after a couple of days of practice they participated in a friendly race, which was quite an achievement for all of them.
The children were not the only ones having all the fun as Laureus Ambassadors Kathi Wörndl, Felix Gottwald, Christa Kinshofer and Martin Braxenthaler happily joined the Youth Camp. These world class winter athletes shared great tips and tricks with the children making this a very special day for everyone involved.
The hard part for the children and young people was not learning how to ski or snowboard, but saying goodbye at the end of the Youth Camp. They all learned a new sport and forged new friendships with kids from other Laureus projects. We can’t wait for next year’s edition!
