Suffered a horrific downhill training crash in St Moritz in December 2000 that tore apart her left knee, threatening to bring her career to a premature end. Underwent three knee operations in 12 months before making a spectacular comeback by becoming the first alpine skier to win four medals - three golds and silver - in a single Olympiad at the Salt Lake City Winter Games in February.
