Barbara

Fusar Poli

No one can forget the look between Barbara Fusar Poli and Maurizio Margaglio when they finished their ice dancing performance in Turin 2006. It was one of the most moving moments in the Winter Olympics.

There was of course the disappointment of a performance below their expectations, only finishing sixth, but like few images in sporting history, it conveyed their passion and their frame of mind.  Rarely, as in that instant, can we see the work, dedication, and love behind the achievement of every great ice dance couple.
In terms of their medal successes, most people will recall the triumphs of 2001, their golden year, when for the first time in the history of Italian figure skating, Fusar Poli and Margaglio conquered the World Championship, the European Championship and the Sparkassen Cup in Gelsenkirchen.
The following year, of course, they followed this up with the bronze medal in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
