Dolderer

Matthias Dolderer is a German professional race pilot and the 2016 champion of the Red Bull Air Race. His career achievements are rather impressive, after lots of hard training and winning several national championships, he was given the opportunity to attend the Red Bull Air Race qualification camp. He fulfilled a long-awaited dream when he secured the world title in front of 62,000 spectators in Indianapolis.

Matthias Dolderer is the first German to have ever been crowned champion of the Red Bull Air Race Championship. Born and raised in southern Germany, his passion for air racing began at the early age of 3 when he took his first flight together with his father. Air racing has always been a big part of Matthias’ life due to the fact that his parents owned an aviation training school. From the moment he completed his first solo flight at the age of 14 nothing could separate him from his love of aviation.

To most people the sky is the limit. To me the sky is home.

After taking over his parents aviation training school together with his sister, and winning several German championships, his desire to qualify to become a Red Bull Air Race Pilot only grew stronger. At 21, Dolderer became the youngest flight teacher in Germany. In 2008, Dolderer was invited to the Red Bull Air Race Qualification Camp and soon found himself among the pilots of this ultimate motorsport series.
