The latest episode of Spirit of Sport, the Laureus-presented show, features exclusive interviews with Carlos Alcaraz, plus Laureus Academy Members Chris Hoy and Cafu. We also sit down with Laureus Ambassador Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and visit a special Laureus-supported dance programme making a difference in the heart of Paris.
The supreme talent of Carlos Alcaraz has never been in doubt, but as the Spanish sensation demonstrated to devastating effect in 2025, reaching the very top takes far more than that.

This month on Spirit of Sport, we sit down with the seven-time Grand Slam champion as he looks back on an historic season which saw him cement his status a true superstar of his generation.

In an unforgettable year which ended with Alcaraz on top of the world rankings and with a career-best eight titles to his name, one afternoon in Paris stands out as the season’s defining moment.

“I remember it like it was yesterday,” he said. “It was one of the best performances I have ever had.”

The 2025 French Open final will go down as one of the greatest Grand Slam matches of all-time, with Alcaraz and long-time rival Jannik Sinner serving up a contest for the ages.

From two sets and three Championship points down, Alcaraz hauled himself off the clay and embarked on a monumental fightback which would see him emerge victorious after an extraordinary back-and-forth battle played over the course of five hours and 29 minutes at Roland Garros.
He said: “The mental and physical quality that match had was super high. I just kept pushing myself all the time, tried to be positive and not let myself down in that moment.”

Sinner would get the better of Alcaraz at Wimbledon one month later, before the Spaniard overcame the Italian at Flushing Meadows to clinch the US Open title in September.

The 2026 Laureus World Sportsman of the Year said: “Our rivalry is beautiful because we push each other to the limit. He is a great guy as well so that makes it even more special.”
Next, we get back on the road with Chris Hoy and a team of riders as they journey through the Pyrenees on their way to completing the Coast to Coast Challenge to raise vital funds for Laureus Sport for Good.

The six-time Olympic champion and Laureus Academy Member said: “We spend our lives looking forward and worrying about the future, and we often miss out on what’s happening in the here and now.

“And if you just pause for a moment to reflect and appreciate life, it’s amazing. That’s why a challenge like this is really special. I’m so happy – it’s been an epic week.”
We also catch up with Jamaican sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who opens up on how becoming a mother shaped the final chapter of a stellar career.

“I told people that motherhood doesn’t diminish who I am as an athlete,” she said. “It was really important to show the world that being 30 or having a kid doesn’t stop anything. If anything, it makes it better.”

In her role as Laureus Ambassador, the now retired Fraser-Pryce also tells us how she is inspiring the next generation through her work with Laureus Sport for Good and her own Pocket Rocket Foundation.

Brazilian football icon and Laureus Academy Member Cafu then reveals his top five defenders as he takes on our quickfire quiz, before we take a trip to Paris to visit a Laureus-supported dance programme harnessing the transformative power of sport to change lives.

“I felt completely lost, completely on the edge because I couldn’t find what motivated me anymore,” said Quentin ‘Mogwai’ Herouali, dancer and founder of Science of Movement.

“That’s when I had the idea to create spaces where people could come and dance freely. For me, the most important part of this whole project is the community itself.”
