Laureus World Sports Academy Member Marcel Desailly, World Cup winner with the great French team of 1998, has given an exclusive interview to Laureus.com, and he reveals that he believes Argentina will emerge victorious this summer.

Marcel Desailly said: “I believe that Argentina will win…  they are an amazing team with all the players that they have – Aguero, Higuaín, di María, Zabaleta, Demichelis.
And he feels this will be possible, even without a certain Lionel Messi being used as the focus of the team.

Watch the video below.

Marcel said: “Messi has a problem because the tactical set-up is not made for him.
“[But] I am sure collectively Argentina will be able, with Messi at top or without Messi at his best, to win the World Cup.”
Turning his attention to the French National team, Marcel said: “Talent is there in the team when you take the players individually. The only problem is collectively.
“France does not perform unless they are scared of getting eliminated. We are not expecting to win the World Cup.  We are just there, hanging, hoping that game after game we can build up a collective motivation.”
Marcel was speaking to Laureus.com as we launch our summer of great football stories and videos from our team of football legends.
