A unique chance to join Formula One legend David Coulthard in a high performance Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT - and raise funds for underprivileged young people at the same time - is on offer as the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation joins forces with new online auction platform CharityStars.
Since launching, more than 200 global celebrities have chosen to work with CharityStars outside the United Kingdom, including Laureus Academy Member Sir Bobby Charlton. Now Laureus is the first charity to team up with CharityStars in the UK in an exciting new fund-raising initiative.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to race around the Mercedes-Benz World track in Weybridge, Surrey, with Laureus Ambassador David Coulthard, is up for auction as CharityStars officially launches in the United Kingdom.
Other Laureus Academy Members and Ambassadors will be working with CharityStars in the future to raise funds for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to use sport as the means to combat some of the world’s toughest social challenges facing young people today such as juvenile crime, gangs, HIV/AIDS, discrimination, social exclusion, lack of education, landmines awareness and health problems such as obesity. Since its inception Laureus has raised over €60 million to improve the lives of millions of young people and currently supports more than 150 community sports projects in 34 countries.
Dedicated entirely to the auction of prizes from the world of celebrity, CharityStars is offering the winning bidder the chance to witness at first hand the incredible speed and handling of this super car as it is tested to its limits by one of the best drivers in the world and test their own driving skills in the car afterwards.
From its AMG 6.2 litre V8 engine, the SLS AMG, a 21st century reincarnation of the legendary 300 SL, is guaranteed to thrill. With a top speed of 197 mph and 0 - 62 in just 3.8 seconds, the driver is guaranteed to experience the drive of their life.
The David Coulthard experience will take place on January 9 at Mercedes-Benz World, a unique facility at the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit in Weybridge, Surrey.
