“On behalf of the Laureus World Sports Academy and the wider Laureus Family around the world, I want to express our heartfelt sadness at the death of The Queen.
“There are some people that seem to have been part of our lives forever; people who always show an example, people who can lead as she did for so many years in such an understated and caring way.
“Nelson Mandela, the first Patron of Laureus was one such person, Her Majesty The Queen most certainly was another. Many members of the Laureus Academy – including myself - have been fortunate to meet The Queen over the years and know of her great qualities and her humility.
“The British nation and The Commonwealth she led have lost a remarkable person. She may have left us, but her example of devotion and service remains.”
