Almudena Fernández announced as new Laureus Ambassador

Almudena Fernández
Almudena Fernández, the Spanish model, activist and founder of the award-winning Kind Surf programme, today joined Laureus as an Ambassador following her participation at the Laureus SportsLab event at the ICON International Conference about Influence in Lisbon, Portugal.
Fernández founded Kind Surf in 2012 to provide surf therapy to young people in Spain who were at risk of social exclusion. In 2024 the project received the Laureus España MARCA Sport for Good Honour and this year it was nominated for the Laureus Sport for Good Award at the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards.
“I am excited and honoured to become a Laureus Ambassador," Fernández said. "Laureus have been a valuable partner to Kind Surf, the surf therapy programme I founded in 2012, and which was nominated for the Laureus Sport for Good Award at this year’s Laureus World Sports Awards.

"That partnership has allowed me to learn more about the work Laureus does around the world, creating a global network of support, funding and collaboration that elevates each one of the 300-plus programmes in that network.

"It's clear to me that Laureus shares the values that drive Kind Surf – a belief that sport changes the lives of those it touches; that it can reach those in society who would otherwise never experience the joy and sense of inclusion that I have seen within the young people who sit on a surfboard and go out into the ocean for the first time."

"Working with Laureus, I believe I can make a greater difference and influence the lives of even more young people. I can’t wait to get started."
