André Villas-Boas will #RaceforGood at the 2018 Dakar Rally
Laureus Ambassador André Villas-Boas will take on the world famous Dakar Challenge as part of the Toyota Overdrive Race For Good Team and will do so with prestigious partners, as the Toyota Hilux driven by André Villas-Boas will show the logos and colors of his favorite humanitarian causes, including Laureus Sport for Good. Andre will drive in the car category of the event, which begins in Peru on January 6.
Racing in the Dakar Rally is a lifelong dream for the 40 year old world renowned football manager, but André Villas-Boas is also committed to giving back to the community and has been a keen ambassador of Laureus Sport for Good for many years.
The Toyota Overdrive Race For Good Team will be fueled by the competitive drive of a a top manager in International Football, aided by the brilliance and experience of Rúben Faria, one of Portugal’s best ever Enduro racers, who finished 2nd overall in the 2013 edition of the Dakar and joins André’s to be his co-driver in this amazing adventure, but thrives to do more than just finish the race, as it will take advantage of the worldwide media attention to raise awareness for causes that provide daily help to thousands of human beings all over the planet.
André has been a passionate Ambassador for Laureus since 2013 and has had first-hand experience of the life changing work of the programmes Laureus supports in both Europe and Asia.
The Dakar is a rally raid made up of 12 stages that takes place in Latin America, but first and foremost, it is an incomparable human adventure.
Its history has been built in the world’s finest deserts with men and women from all horizons, taking on one of the hardest sporting challenges of our era.
A competition of extremes and an orienteering race, the Dakar brings together the leading rally raid riders and drivers, as well as amateur competitors who come to fulfil their dream, experience an adventure and meet the biggest challenge of their life on a bike, on a quad, in a car or in a truck. Over the last 40 years, each year 500 adventurers from more than 60 nationalities have come together for 15 days of a unique competition on which extraordinary feats of human endeavour are played out.
