Luis Figo believes his old club Real Madrid will be too strong for local rivals Atletico to overcome them in the Champions League final this weekend.

Atletico have become the first team in years to break the Real/Barcelona duopoly on the La liga title, but Luis is confident it won’t be enough on the night.
Luis Figo said: “[Real Madrid] have been going after the Champions for a long time: the last time they won it I was there, 2002. So this is quite special.
And, being the first final in which clubs from the same city have faced each other, he recognises how important a match it will be.
He said: “It is a special final because no one could expect that two teams in the same city could be going to play in the final of Champions League and I think it’s going to be a fantastic moment for all the supporters.
“This is a really important derby because of the level of the game. And I think the Champions League final is the best competition between clubs. It gives you a lot of prestige. There is always rivalry between teams from the same city, but it gives more importance as the final is watched by millions of people.
