Laureus and Allianz continue changing lives
Allianz, the world’s leading insurance and financial service provider, is to extend its role supporting Laureus throughout the 2017 Laureus World Sports Awards and beyond.
As Official Partner, Allianz will continue to work with Laureus until the end of the year to harness the ability of sport to foster social inclusion and end discrimination and disadvantage among young people.
Jean-Marc Pailhol, Head of Group Market Management and Distribution of Allianz SE said “We are very much looking forward to again support the Laureus World Sports Awards as well as joining the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation in its aim to use sport as a catalyst for social change. As a long-lasting partner of the Paralympic Movement and its athletes, we are proud to celebrate those who have the courage to embrace change and move on in life.”
The Laureus World Sports Awards, which takes place in Monaco on February 14, will celebrate sporting achievement while supporting Laureus Sport for Good and highlighting the incredible work it does to use sport to transform lives for the better.
Laureus Sport for Good, in line with its vision to work towards six key focus areas covered within the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, supports sport for development programmes that work towards achieving social inclusion. With Allianz help, Laureus will be able to continue using sport to create communities, which embrace ethnic, cultural and physical differences.
Allianz and Laureus are both passionate supporters of Para sport. Allianz is actively involved in the Paralympic Movement and is committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, and excellence, both in the workplace and in the world of sports. At the same time, the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability Award is regarded as one of the most prestigious honours in Para sport.
Sean Fitzpatrick, Chairman of Laureus said “I am delighted to extend our partnership with Allianz for another year. We both believe so passionately about the power has sport to change the world in a positive way. This partnership will give Laureus and Allianz the chance to continue to use sport to achieve social inclusion. We’re looking forward to working together to add further value to the Sport for Good movement.”
“The partnership between Laureus and Allianz is an important one and I’m delighted that we will both continue to use sport to create inclusive societies around the world. Allianz support for Paralympic sport is known the world over, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with them in future.” added Laureus World Sports Academy Member and Paralympic sporting legend Tanni Grey-Thompson.
