Laureus welcomes Allianz as Official Partner of 2016 Laureus Awards

Allianz, the world’s leading insurance and financial service provider, is to be the Official Partner of the 2016 Laureus World Sports Awards.
The annual Laureus World Sports Awards Ceremony, to be staged in Berlin on April 18 in front of a star-studded audience of celebrities from the worlds of sport, entertainment, business and fashion, honours the greatest sportsmen and sportswomen of the year.
The Laureus World Sports Awards supports Laureus Sport for Good by showcasing the incredible work it does to transform the lives of individuals and communities around the world by using the power of sport as a tool to combat challenging social issues.

Allianz and Laureus are both passionate supporters of Paralympic sport. Allianz works at every level of the Paralympic Movement and is committed to promoting inclusion, diversity, and excellence, both in the workplace and in the world of competitive sports, while the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability Award is regarded as one of the most prestigious honours in Paralympic sport.
Laureus World Sports Academy Member Tanni Grey-Thompson, one of the greatest Paralympic athletes of all-time with 11 gold medals, said: “I am delighted that Laureus and Allianz have teamed up together; it will make the Awards Ceremony a very special occasion. Their support for Paralympic sport is renowned around the world.”
One of the celebrated sports stars attending the Laureus Awards Ceremony will be Allianz Brand Ambassador and Paralympic Gold medalist Markus Rehm. He holds the men’s long jump F44 world record after leaping 8.40 metres in the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships. He will join other famous guests including Boris Becker, Oliver Bierhoff, Martin Braxenthaler, Cafu, Nadia Comaneci, Alessandro Del Piero, Marcel Desailly, Anna Fenninger, Jan Frodeno, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Franz Klammer, Nia Kunzer, Jens Lehmann, Edwin Moses, Ilie Nastase, Raul, Steve Redgrave, Axel Schulz, Michael Teuber and Katarina Witt.
