Nico Rosberg passes the €100,000 mark with #DriveforGood
Yesterday, Laureus Ambassador Nico Rosberg dominated the first Mexican Grand Prix in 23 years, in front a crowd of over 130,000 fans. Nico called it “the best podium of my life”. He led from start to finish and clinched the top podium ahead of MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS teammate, and this year’s world champion, Lewis Hamilton and Williams' Valtteri Bottas.
The German's fourth victory of the year, and 12th of his career, means he has now raised over €100,000 for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation with the #DriveforGood initiative, with two races to go.
Since the Chinese Grand Prix in April, Mercedes-Benz donates 100 euros for every racing kilometre that Nico leads in the 2015 Formula One season.
“Laureus is a cause that is very close to my heart and I am very proud to work as an Ambassador for the Foundation,” commented Nico. “It’s a source of great inspiration for me to see the fantastic work that the Foundation is doing for children round the world. Sport and competition taught me a lot about hard work, determination and respect when I was growing up, so hopefully I can demonstrate that and maybe provide a bit of inspiration of my own.
“The #DriveForGood campaign is a wonderful next step as it combines my determination to lead as many laps as possible in every race with a good cause; thank you for Mercedes-Benz for their generosity in supporting the Foundation in this way.”
To be exact, Nico has now raised €109,000, with The Brazilian and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix still to come. Go Nico!
